(Dublin, OH) – The City of Dublin returns to Coffman Park (5200 Emerald Parkway) on Nov. 30 for the official start of the 2023 holiday season. Join us from 5-7 p.m. for the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony! Families and friends are invited to gather at the large evergreen tree between the Dublin Community Recreation Center (DCRC) pond and the Coffman Park Pavilion.
To get in the holiday spirit, guests can enjoy caroling, dance performances, roaming holiday stilt walkers, rides on a trackless train, ice sculpting, letters to Santa, reindeer and more seasonal activities and entertainment. Hot chocolate and holiday-themed refreshments provided by Snow Sisters will be available for purchase. Chick-fil-A and LaRosa’s will be on-site selling dinner items.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive by horse-drawn sleigh to officially light the holiday tree at 6:40 p.m. Opportunities for photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus will take place after the tree is lit.
Letters may be written and mailed to Santa using the North Pole Mailbox at the event. Children can also drop their letters in Santa’s mailbox at the Dublin Community Recreation Center (DCRC) after the Tree Lighting to guarantee on-time delivery to the North Pole before Christmas.
Share kindness this holiday season with the Dublin Police Department. Officers will be on-site collecting new, unwrapped toys, gift cards and monetary donations for the Fill-A-Cruiser Toy Drive.
The official tree this year is fondly known by Dublin natives as the “Catherin Headlee Tree.” In 1985, Mayor Catherin Headlee proclaimed that the municipal building (what is now the City Development Building) needed to decorate a tree for the season. The tree she picked was located near the DCRC and was lit at the first annual Dublin Tree Lighting event. The original Headlee tree declined in health and was eventually removed. City staff members identified another tree in the area and have decorated it for many years in memory of Mayor Headlee, earning it the “Headlee Tree” name.
Parking
Free event parking is available in Coffman Park and the DCRC (5600 Post Road). To park at the DCRC, visitors must enter from Post Road or Downpatrick, off Tara Hill. The portion of Coffman Park Drive in front of the Coffman Park Pavilion will be closed for the event.
